| New Form of Investment |

An intersting new form of investment is that of hoarding base metals. Base metals are metals such as copper, nickel, and so on. The very interesting aspect about this form of investment is one is able to get these metals at about half of what they are worth if they are willing to do a little bit of work. Essentially, one can double their money instantly. The way this can be done is by hoarding copper cents as well as nickels.
Before 1982, all cents, or pennies, were made of 95% copper. At the time of writing this article, the price of copper made one of those pre-1982 pennies worth $.02425, or 2.425 cents. That is more than double it's face value and the price of copper seems to be rising. Nickels are all made out of a 75% copper, 25% nickel alloy aside from the war nickels. At the time of writing this article, a nickel was worth $.09127, or 9.127 cents. This is almost double its face value and nickel, like the price of copper, just keeps rising in value.
What I meant when I said one would have to do a little work is they will have to sort through many many pennies as only about 25% of the pennies in a roll are copper. This may seem like a lot of work, and it is, but it is worth it to double your investment. As this becomes more popular, the copper pennies will become more scarce so the quicker one gets started with this the better. The good thing about nickels is no sorting has to be done with them. Until the U.S. treasury changes the composition of the nickel in 2009, all of them are 75% copper and 25% nickel. This method of investing is also a good safety net against inflation since the value of the U.S. dollar is constantly waining where as the value of the base metals is constantly increasing.
Realizing ones profits is what becomes the biggest hurtle right now but I would wait and hold on to the hoard and just focus on increasing it for now. I believe a market will develop for copper cents and nickels within the next two years as hoarding becomes more and more popular. There has also been talk that the U.S. treasury may make copper cents worth 5 cents each, if one has a substantial hoard by then, their investment had an instant 500% return. Should these coins follow the same path as the pre 1965 silver halves, quarters, and dimes, we will see a 1000% increase over their face value eventually. Either way, there is no possible way to lose money with this investment, the worst that can happen is it will be worth what one paid for it.
